What is Avocado?
Colloquially known as the Alligator Pear, the Avocado fruit reflects a similar shape with a leather-like appearance of its skin. Its name is derived from the Aztec word “ahuacatl”. This pear-shaped fruit has a rough leathery skin, a smooth oily edible flesh, and a large stone. The tropical evergreen tree that bears the avocado is native to Central America and widely cultivated in Mexico and other rare parts of the world.
Avocados are among those rare plants which are multi-faceted in terms of healing powers. There are a host of benefits of pure avocado cooking oil, in India it is particularly known to lower cholesterol level.
